🌴 Strike Mission to G-Land: Maddie Stanton Chases Perfect Waves in Paradise

August 7, 2025

Encinitas’ rising surf star Maddie Stanton has taken her talents overseas—this time to the legendary reef breaks of G-Land (Grajagan Bay) in Indonesia. Known for its long, barreling lefts and raw, untouched nature, G-Land is a dream destination for surfers chasing world-class waves—and Maddie just checked it off her list.

🌊 What’s a Strike Mission?

A “strike mission” is a last-minute surf trip based on swell forecasts. When conditions look just right, surfers book flights, grab their boards, and go—sometimes with less than 24 hours of planning. It’s all about chasing perfect waves in the right place at the right time.

For Maddie, this was the perfect opportunity to test her skills on one of the most iconic waves in the world. G-Land’s fast, hollow walls offer a challenge even for seasoned pros, but it’s also a place that pushes young athletes to the next level.

🏄‍♀️ Leveling Up in the Lineup

With her competitive season wrapped, this trip comes at a perfect time for Maddie to reset, reconnect with her love for surfing, and continue progressing outside the jersey. Sessions in G-Land will not only sharpen her barrel-riding skills but also help her adapt to new wave environments—an essential trait for any surfer with pro ambitions.

🌅 Island Vibes & Inspiration

Beyond the waves, G-Land offers a raw, tropical escape. Remote jungle, quiet beaches, and no crowds—it’s a surfer’s paradise. Maddie’s excitement to explore “these islands” is a reminder that surfing isn’t just about contests. It’s about travel, growth, and the lifelong pursuit of the perfect ride.

We can’t wait to see the waves she scores, the stories she’ll tell, and how this trip shapes her style going forward. Stay tuned for more updates from the lineup—and maybe even a few clips from the jungle.

This past month at Lower Trestles, Encinitas’ own Maddie Stanton added another milestone to her young career. At just 15 years old, Maddie secured an impressive third place in the Girls U18 division at the 2025 Hoag USA Surfing Championships presented by Hurley.
